Feasibility study for sustainable cycling holidays in Tiveden

The purpose of the feasibility study is to review the possibilities of creating a better infrastructure for cyclists in the area Laxå – Tiveden and to investigate the possibilities of developing cycling tourism but also to promote that the local population more extensively gets out into nature by bike. Through this project, we will explore the possibilities of creating bike paths to travel between Laxå and Tiveden and connect them with existing bike paths in Tiveden as well as with the existing bike paths between Tiveden and Askersund. The project will also investigate what opportunities exist for traveling collectively with a brought bike to Laxå. Opportunities for bike rental in Laxå will also be examined. The project's idea is to explore how to promote that more visitors travel to Tiveden in a climate-smart way by making it possible for tourists to easily plan and undertake a safe and climate-smart journey by bike, thereby strengthening Laxå and Tiveden as a cycling destination. The project will explore whether there is a possibility for visitors to take the train to Laxå and then switch to a pre-booked bike, alternatively bring their own bike on the train, for further travel into Tiveden's wilderness, to accommodations, dining places, and other activities. This is to promote a distribution of the increased number of visitors in the area and contribute to more visitors choosing to travel climate-smart to and in the area as there is a clear, traffic-safe, and simple way to plan and carry out such a journey. It will also be investigated how and where cycling routes can be created in connection with the train station to promote that the local population has proximity to bike paths and to strengthen Laxå as a cycling destination. The feasibility study will also investigate how and who will sell/administer/market packages with bike and accommodation.
