Development of Hjortkvarn – New gathering place

We want:

• to create a common gathering place that can be used by all residents and associations in Hjortkvarn and the surrounding area.
• to reshape and adapt existing premises, facilities, and the area around the community park and sports field so that the association can expand its activities and events, as well as make it possible for other associations in and near the locality to expand their activities.
• to connect the old Hjortvallen area with the residential buildings and create new exciting places for play, training, and socializing. In connection with the municipal playground, an outdoor gym with 8 types of equipment will be established so that both children and adults can ”play” at the same time.

The association will organize gym evenings with an instructor as a new activity in the association. Right next to it, a motor skills/agility course for children will be laid out. The location allows for both spontaneous developmental play and instructor-led activities with participants from preschool after-school care or through activities arranged by the association. This can occur simultaneously for both adults and children. On the other side of the small gravel road, a approximately 450-meter long 9-hole disc golf course will be established where the association will organize disc golf competitions as a completely new type of activity. From the disc golf course, a simple walking path will be created that connects the outdoor gym with the illuminated trail and links the front activity area with the illuminated trail and activity area at the community center by the old sports field. The old sports field is located just north of the village and is connected to the nearest villa area Sandhagen by a gravel road. Parallel to this, in a scenic area, the illuminated trail runs along parts of the old marshalling yard and narrow gauge railway. The old sports field will be made accessible for the disabled and the facilities will be renovated and supplemented with, and for, completely new activities, a pétanque court, playground, and provide opportunities for weather-protected outdoor activities such as yoga, dance, tabata, zumba, senior gymnastics, flea markets, and auctions, for example. The association's premises will be renovated with new areas adapted to new activities and needs. A new accessible toilet, water and faucets, wet room, drainage, and the kitchen will be renovated. A new accessible entrance with a ramp and outdoor area will be built. Relocation of windows and new doors as well as a new alarm and locking system will be installed to make it easier to access the premises when renting. In front of the community center at the corner of the old football field, a new playground for children and a pétanque court for local residents who are not interested in ”heavier” physical activities will be established to provide opportunities for spontaneous activities suitable for all ages. (Parallel to this, but outside the project, the municipality will also arrange lighting at the ice rink next to the after-school care/preschool) The aim is to create a vibrant association life as part of a socially sustainable community in the area. We want to attract younger people not to move away from, but to the area by offering an active association life and access to a gathering place that works for all ages. We want to give older people the opportunity for a more active life that promotes health and makes it possible to stay in the area. We want Hjortkvarn to develop and become an attractive place for young people to start families, build their own homes, and establish themselves, thereby evening out the uneven age distribution in rural areas. We want to strengthen local identity by creating a place that everyone can gather around and feel proud of.
