The project wants to start the ensemble ”Young Voices” in Östernärke and set up the musical theater ”The Jungle Book”.

Young Voices is intended to be an ensemble focused on children and young people in middle school and high school.

Each school year, a musical theater is set up from ”scratch”. The only thing that should be ready at the start of the term is the script, which should be a well-known story or musical. Based on the script, the ensemble will be involved in creating costumes, props, masks, and scenery. When the spring term approaches its end, it is time for performances. We believe that four matinees are just right. The ensemble itself will be involved in selling tickets, making posters and advertisements, and serving the audience on site. There are many roles to fill in a musical production, not just actors,

but we will have places for the children and young people who love to work with masks, makeup, and costumes as well as building and working in, on, and around the stage.

We will build a website and also create platforms on social media.

The school year 2023/2024 is our vision to set up The Jungle Book.

It is not difficult to understand Mowgli's situation. In the world of the jungle he has landed in, we can recognize ourselves in relation to others. Perhaps our world is just as strange if an outsider studies it from the outside? What does it feel like, for example, to come as a refugee to a new country where you do not understand either the language or the culture? What does it feel like to be different?

It is also about understanding and making oneself understood, teaching and learning from how others solve conflicts and overcome obstacles, that things that are said to be impossible are actually possible! As long as we divide humanity into US and THEM, the feeling of not fitting in or being on the outside will always be just as relevant.

We will meet on Wednesdays starting September 6, 2023, and conclude with the last performance on May 19, 2024.

Why do we want this?

We know that there is a very large interest in music and theater in our area, and we want to become a natural meeting place for the children and young people who have this interest. We believe that there should be an alternative to leisure activities where we can meet, have fun, and create something fantastic together.
We believe that we will fill a void and give meaning to many who may not thrive in, for example, a football team.
We want to emphasize that our ability to imagine or philosophize about something is important for us to be inspired to make progress and turn our plans into reality.

Our goals with the project

Our short-term goal with the project is to start the ensemble ”Young Voices” on its own and set up the musical theater ”The Jungle Book” – a de-disneyfied version with a script from Rudyard Kipling's books about Mowgli.

Our long-term goal is to carry out the performances and thereby achieve:
